Robotics Classes for Kids Ages 5 to 18

Robots and circuits your child codes themselves.

Robotics isn't a separate course here. From twice a week it's part of all three of our coding programs, at no extra cost: a floor robot and snap-together circuits at five, Arduino and micro:bit boards from seven, and Raspberry Pi projects for teens. Your child writes the code that makes each one work.

  • Ages 5 to 18
  • Included from twice a week
  • 6 students per instructor

How robotics works at Ultimate Coders

Robotics at Ultimate Coders is part of our in-person coding programs for kids ages 5 to 18, included at no extra cost when your child comes twice or three times a week. Younger children program the Dash robot and build Snap Circuits; older ones wire Arduino, micro:bit and Raspberry Pi projects to code they wrote.

Robotics at every age

The hardware grows with your child. The idea stays the same: they write the code, and the robot or circuit shows them straight away whether it was right.

Included from twice a week

You choose how often your child comes, and you can change it later. Every session is 60 minutes, with up to six students per instructor.

  1. 1

    Once a week

One session, spent on the coding levels. Robotics and electronics aren't part of this option, because a single 60-minute class doesn't have room for both.

  2. 2

    Twice a week

Coding and robotics in the same week, so what your child builds in one class gets used again in the next. Included at no extra cost.

  3. 3

    Three times a week

More time on the parts of a build that take time: the robot, the wiring, the bigger projects. Included at no extra cost.

  • Two students sitting on the floor coding a Dash robot's route on a tablet
Planning a robot's route on a tablet, together.
  • A teenage student pressing components into a breadboard beside a laptop
Wiring a circuit to the code they wrote.

Is robotics an extra we'll be asked to pay for?

No. From twice a week, robotics and electronics are part of the program itself, in all three programs. There's no kit to buy and nothing to add: the robots, boards and parts are at the centre, and your child uses them in class.

Once a week is the one option without it. Those students spend their session on the software levels, and can move up to twice a week whenever you like.

If robotics is what your child is asking for, choose twice a week. That's the whole decision.

Questions parents ask

What age can my child start robotics?

Five. In Junior Thinker, children ages 5 to 7 program the Dash robot with picture blocks and build Snap Circuits with an instructor beside them, with no reading required. Robotics carries on through Junior Creator and Ultimate Innovator, up to age 18.

Is robotics included, or is it extra?

Included. Robotics and electronics are part of all three programs from twice a week upward, at no extra cost and with nothing to buy. Once-a-week students spend their session on the coding levels instead.

Which robots and kits do you use?

Dash robots and Snap Circuits for ages 5 to 7, Arduino and micro:bit boards with sensors and circuits for ages 7 to 14, and Raspberry Pi and hardware projects for teens ages 14 to 18.

Do we need to buy a robot or a kit?

No. The robots, boards and parts are at the centre and your child uses them in class. Nothing needs buying at home.

Does my child need coding experience first?

No. Every program has a starting point that assumes no experience, and most students arrive with none. Choose the program by your child's age, and the free trial class will settle the level.

Can my child do robotics online?

Junior Creator and Ultimate Innovator both run online as live classes, but robotics and electronics kits are handled differently online, and hands-on hardware projects are less accessible in that format. If robotics is the main draw, a centre is the better choice.

How long is each class?

Every session is 60 minutes with up to six students per instructor. The free trial class is a full 60-minute session too, in a real class with other students.
